Linda Schwartz arrived in London from the USA after graduating from Brown University in 1971, and started work at Hamish Hamilton as secretary to the production director. Night classes at the London College of Printing lead to jobs in book production and design at Heinemann Medical Books, William Heinemann, and then as senior production manager at Hutchinson Publishers. Here she became involved with WiP, serving on the first committee and speaking about book production. She also started her own small publishing company, Poplar Press. Now retired, she lives on her farm in southern Spain.
