5 Charlotte Gascoigne remembers the question that led to WiP's 1989 survey 'Twice as Many, Half as Powerful'
I think it was WiP that got me interested in this question: why it was that women were not progressing up the hierarchy. And that was what started us on the survey, Twice as Many, Half as Powerful, because there we all were, all these women sitting around in Long Acre every month, coming from work to this all-female environment, saying ‘Why aren’t we progressing up the hierarchy. Is it sexism, is it discrimination, is it that women are leaving?’
You know, we had the debates about ‘it’s only a matter of time before the women move up through the ranks’. It wasn’t happening.
