Sally MacEachern, with a BA and no desire to teach, sent letters to all the publishers in Cape Town. Lucky timing landed her a job as editor at TV Bulpin Ltd. Ten years later, after moving to the UK in 1982, a temporary job at a small tax publisher led to more congenial work in a series of illustrated non-fiction packagers, ending with 10 years at Quarto Publishing as senior and then managing editor before she went freelance in 1997. From 1985 Women in Publishing was very much part of Sally's professional and personal life.
