Charmian Hearne entered publishing in 1988 as assistant to the editorial director of Weidenfeld & Nicolson. After working with two senior editors on the Weidenfeld general list, she became assistant editor on the Everyman Classics list. Moving into academic publishing in 1993 she was appointed commissioning editor for Literature and Cultural Studies for Macmillan. Charmian was involved in WiP in a variety of roles including the training and international committees. She left publishing in 1999 and has since worked in fundraising and academic administration. She lives in Oxford with her family.
